Wisconsin Academic Decathlon is a non-profit charitable organization sponsored through private donations and team entrance fees. Lead Sponsor Extends Partnership MILWAUKEE - March 18, 2009 - The Wisconsin Academic Decathlon is the recipient of a $150,000 donation from the Assurant Health Foundation, the charitable arm of Assurant Health, a Milwaukee-based national health insurance company. The donation, paid out over three years, will be used to support the academic competition. It is a continuation of an earlier $150,000, 3-year commitment from the Assurant Health Foundation that ran from 2006 to 2009. In April of 2006, the charitable arm of Milwaukee-based Assurant Health came forward as a major corporate sponsor, with a minimum three-year commitment. Assurant Health Foundation President Rob Guilbert explains, "Assurant Health's charitable arm includes a focus on support for education to improve literacy and graduation rates." Guilbert added, "Assurant Health seeks to promote programs that demonstrate a commitment to scholastic challenge and excellence that better prepare Wisconsin youth for the job market. Partnering with Academic Decathlon is a win-win situation," says Guilbert, "and I encourage other Wisconsin businesses to contribute as well."
