Academic Decathlon offers three levels of competition during the year; teams advance through the process of competitive elimination. Ideally, recruitment of students for your team should begin in the spring as many competitive teams will have their team members study the required readings over the summer months. Once a school has registered a team, the Decathlon Coach receives access to the Coaches' Corner, a secure website intended for coach's use only. Competition event information, news and updates are posted periodically throughout the season. After each competition, coaches are able to access scoring reports the minutes they are posted -- using a required User Name and Password. 2011-2012 WIAD Registration/Application Form Registration/Application Form for Alternate Teams Schools may register as early as May of each year. Applications must be approved by WIAD before applicants are eligible to participate in any WIAD competition, consistent with the Competition Handbook. |

COOPERATIVE TEAMS Two high schools may form a cooperative team providing one, or both, of the schools do not have a team. Approval of the union is required from both school administrations. The cooperative team shall compete in the largest enrollment division among the two schools. The Cooperative Team Application Form (see above) must be submitted to WIAD by the Local Competition registration deadline (October 8, 2010). Cooperative Team Application Form
If you are a new school, or one that has not participated in the past five years, you may be eligible for a Supply Grant. 2011-2012 Supply Grant Authorization Form The Supply Grant provides the majority of study materials needed to start in the program. Each year, the Wisconsin Academic Decathlon provides a limited number of supply grants, which are given out on a first-come, first-served basis. This season, three grants will be available. Potential Funding Source for your Decathlon Program DonorsChoose.org is a simple way to provide students in need with resources that our public schools often lack. At this not-for-profit web site, teachers submit project proposals for materials or experiences their students need to learn. These ideas become classroom reality when concerned individuals, whom we call Citizen Philanthropists, choose projects to fund. http://www.donorschoose.org/donors/search.html?action=browse&keywords=wisconsin&zone=0 Click on How It Works for details.
