Center-Based Option:

Children 3-5 years are enrolled in the center-based option depending on family preference and appropriateness for the individual child. In the center-based option the children attend preschool classroom sessions four days a week for 3 1/2 hours per day.  Families receive four parent contacts per year by theteacher, two of them done in the home environment.  During classroom sessions the children are exposed to a variety of preschool experiences. During the parent contacts the families and Head Start staff work together to enrich both the children's and families' Head Start experiences.Transportation to and from the center is provided by Head Start/Early Head Start within designated bus routes.

Home-Based Option:

Children can be enrolled in the home-based option depending on family preference and appropriateness for the individual child.  In the home-based option, families receive one home visit per week for 1 1/2 hours and the child and family come to a central location for socialization activitie activities.  During the socializations the home visitor, parent, and child participate in group activities. 

Home-based options are offered to:

  1. infants and tos two times a month.  During weekly home visits the home visitor, parent, and child participate in a variety of child-parent centeredddlers, 0 to 2 years of age (year round)
  2. children, 3 to 5 years of age (September through May)

Full Day/Year Option:

Children who need more than the part day program in Manitowoc County can participate in the Full Day program.  Head Start provides this extended day program.  The program runs Monday through Thursday from September through May.  The Head Start teacher and Family Advocate team together to provide the full range of Head Start services to participating families.
