CESA 7 Regional Spelling Bees

Four regional spelling bees are facilitated by CESA 7, in conjunction with the Wisconsin State Journal (held late January/early to mid-February). Regional winners advance to the Badger State Spelling Bee and the state winner advances to the Scripps National Spelling Bee held near Washington, D.C. (late May/early June).

Scripps Enrollment Information

In order to participate in the CESA Regional Spelling Bee, each public, private, parochial, charter, virtual, and home school association must enroll with and pay a $115 per school enrollment/materials fee to the Scripps organization in order to participate. The regular enrollment period has ended. The late enrollment period is October 16 through December 14, 2012. However, there is a late enrollment fee of $75 per school.

If a school enrolled last year, Scripps emailed the key spelling bee contact person an invitation to enroll through a link unique to that school. Clicking that link pre-fills the enrollment form with the school's basic information. Schools may also enroll at www.spellingbee.com

CESA 7 is informed of the schools that enroll with Scripps and will only send out the necessary forms/information for participation in the regional spelling bee to those enrolled schools. Students that are in grades 3-8, from schools that have enrolled with Scripps, are eligible to compete (one student per school).

Bonuses:

  • A free one-year subscription to Britannica Online for Kids (a $69.95 value), from Encyclopaedia Britannica, for use as a prize in your spelling bee program.

  • A free PowerspeaK12 foreign language course (a $100-$165 value), from Middlebury Interactive, for use as a prize in your spelling bee program.

Early Enrollment Bonus:

  • When schools enroll on or before September 30, 2012, these schools will receive

TWO free one-year subscriptions to Britannica Online for Kids (a $139 value) to award to two participants in the school's spelling bee program.
