Wisconsin Academic Decathlon is a statewide Scholastic

Competition for high school students throughout the State. 

The program provides opportunities for students to experience

the challenges of rigorous team and individual competition.


It is designed to: 

  • develop a greater respect for knowledge
  • promote inter-school academic competition
  • emphasize the need for increased communication skills
  • stimulate intellectual growth and achievement and development of team efforts



  • Scholarships available to 1st, 2nd and 3rd Place Overall Student in the Honor (A), Scholastic (B) and Varsity (C) GPA Categories at State Competition.
  • Einhorn Family FDN. Cash Scholarship to Top Scoring Student on each State team.
  • Direct Scholarships* for Regional and State Top Scholars.

DIRECT SCHOLARSHIPS are offered by PARTICIPATING INSTITUTIONS each season.  Participating institutions are offering over $239,500 in direct scholarship awards to this season’s decathletes.

At the State Awards Banquet, the Top Three Overall WIAD State Scholars and the Regional Top Scholars in the Honor, Scholastic and Varsity Divisions will be presented with a Direct Scholarship Certificate* featuring the following contributing institutions:

        Colleges secured as of February 14, 2017

*Each Direct Scholarship Certificate recipient must meet the admissions

requirements of their selected institute to be eligible for the Award.

The WIAD Office will make the initial contact with the institution on the students’ behalf.
